Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Geppella is Geppella mortensenii Børgesen.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Rhipiliopsis echinocaulos (A.B.Cribb) Farghaly.

Kraft, G.T. (1986). The green algal genera Rhipiliopsis A. & E.S. Gepp and Rhipiella gen. nov. (Udoteaceae, Bryopsidales) in Australia and the Philippines. Phycologia 25: 47-72, 54 figs, 1 table.
