The type species (holotype) of the genus Lessonia is Lessonia flavicans Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Myriodesma quercifolium (Bory) J.Agardh.

Type locality: southern Australia; (Silva & al. 1996: 653) Type: Lesueur; Herb. Bornet, PC; (Womersley 1987: 416) Notes: Silva et al. (1996) recommend consulting Nizamuddin & Womersley (1967: 380) for more information on the type species of this species. Asensi & de Reviers (2009: 242) consider specimen PC0062759 to be the holotype.
