This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Althenia cylindrocarpa (Koernicke) Ascherson.

Type locality: "Australia felix"; (Robertson 1984: 78) Type: F. Mueller n. 52; Herb. Berlin (presumed destroyed).; (Robertson 1984: 78) Notes: Robertson (1984: 78) notes that “Australia Felix” was used broadly to denote the area of grasslands and coastline of southern Victoria from Melbourne westwards to Portland.
