The type species (holotype) of the genus Scytosiphon is Scytosiphon filum var. lomentaria (Lyngbye) C.Agardh.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ulva intestinalis f. cornucopiae (Lyngbye) Sfriso & Curiel.
