According to Burrows (1991) this species is a synonym of Enteromorpha prolifera (O. F. Müller) J. Agardh; however, as it represents an unwarranted changed of name for Enteromorpha procera Ahlner, it must be treated as a nomenclatural synonym of Ulva procera, currently treated as a taxonomic synonym of Ulva linza. - (11 May 2006) - G.M.
