Type Species
This is the type species (lectotype) of the genus Tremella.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Nostoc commune Vaucher ex Bornet & Flahault.

Type locality: "Habitat in Pratis post pluvias"; (Silva & al. 1996: 70) Type: Linnaeus; (INA 1996) Notes: Sweden (INA).
