The type species (lectotype) of the genus Callithamnion is Callithamnion corymbosum (Smith) Lyngbye.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dasythamniella latissima (Harvey) Womersley.

Type locality: "George Town, V. D. L., R. Gunn, Esg., n. 1308" [Georgetown, Tasmania]; (Harvey 1844: 453) Holotype: [R.] Gunn 1308; BM; (Womersley 1998: 276) Notes: Harvey mentioned a single collection of Gunn's No, 1308, which is thus the holotype.
