Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Rhodymenia is Rhodymenia palmetta (Stackhouse) Greville.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Halopeltis australis (J.Agardh) G.W.Saunders.

Lectotype locality: King George Sound, Western Australia; (Womersley 1996: 77) Lectotype: Harvey; TCD; Alg. Aust. Exsicc. 381B (Womersley 1996: 77) Notes: Syntype localities: west and south coasts of Australia, Tasmania (Silva, Basson & Moe 1996: 369). Chapman (1979:415) cites "Georgetown, Tasmania" as the type locality.
