Illegitimate: superfluous as it included Nitzschia incurva Grunow, 1878 in synonymy (Cleve & Möller 1878: 102, as "var.? incurva (N. incurva Grun. in Kaspi See Algen)." Nitzschia incurva is thus the earliest available name for the complex. - (25 August 2017) - M.D. Guiry
