Taxonomic note
The morphology of a phycobiont of Verrucariaceae, Heterococcus was intermediate between H. pleurococcoides and H. viridis; the isolates clustered together with sequences of these species (Thüs et al. 2011). - (08 February 2012) - G.M. Guiry
