This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Achroonema angustum (Koppe) Skuja.

Taxonomic note
According to Komárek & Anagnostidis (2005: 112) "The typical benthic and sapropelic Oscillatoria angustata Koppe 1923 with colourless 0.8-1.2 µm wide trichomes is proably eubacterium." The species was referred to Achroonema by Skuja (1956: 84). - (19 February 2014) - M.D. Guiry
