Type locality: Graben an der Barther Landstrasse, Stralsund ; (INA 1996) Lectotype: fig. 15 in Hübner (1886): see below (epitype) (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2012: 734) Notes: Epitype (Karnkowska-Ishikawa et al. 2012: 734, figs 1,d and l) : Permanently preserved material (cells in resin, for EM) from strain ASW 08048 deposited at the Herbarium of the Biology Faculty at the Univ. of Warsaw, Poland.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective A (Latin), caudate, i.e., ending with a tail-like appendage (Stearn 1983).
