General Environment
This is a marine species.
Description
Cells of sessile stage forming a stratum on dead leaves. Protoplast spherical or ovoid,
diameter 7-10 µm, in a loose hemispherical transparent membrane. Chromatophore cup-shaped
with single pyrenoid, stigma sometimes present. Two contractile vacuoles.
Motile cells obpyriform or cordate, swimming by means of four flagella. Cell wall absent,
chromatophore cup-shaped with pyrenoid and red stigma; two contractile vacuoles. 8-12
long, 5-9 µm wide.
