Type Information
Type locality: Yanchep, Western Australia (31o32’S; 115o33’E); (Kraft & Wynne 1992: 18) Holotype: Gerald, Lesleigh and Jessica Kraft; 20 September 1990; drift, on the stalks of Amphibolis antarctica (Labillardière) Sonder & Ascherson. Some thalli attaching to the blades of Craspedocarpus venosus (Kützing) Min-Thein & Womersley. Also epiphytic on the host; MELU; K17001 (Kraft & Wynne 1992: 18) Notes: Holotype is shown in Fig. 2 of original publication. Isotypes K17002-17004 (Womersley, 2003: 343).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Plants grow as epiphytes on seagrass stems and other algae, as well as directly on solid, calcareous substrata; in situ collections from 20-24 m depths, growing on encrusting coralline red algae surrounding the base of Webervanbossea splachnoides (Harvey) J. De Toni and epiphytic on Myriodesma quercifolium (Bory) J. Agardh (Kraft & Wynne 1992: 20).
