The type species (lectotype) of the genus Stauroneis is Stauroneis phoenicenteron (Nitzsch) Ehrenberg.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Prestauroneis crucicula (W.Smith) Genkal & Yarushina.
