Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Campyloneis grevillei var. argus (Grunow) Cleve.

Noun (Latinised), Latinised form of the Greek, argos, white; the hundred-eyed keeper of Io, killed by Mercury at the command of Jupiter (Smith & Lockwood 1933).
