Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Coscinosira is Coscinosira polychorda (Gran) Gran.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Shionodiscus poroseriatus (Ramsfjell) A.J.Alverson, S.-H.Kang & E.C.Theriot.
