Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Dickieia is Dickieia ulvacea Berkeley ex Kützing.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Mastogloia danseyi (Thwaites) Thwaites ex W.Smith.

Eponomy
"I have great pleasure in naming this species in compliment to its discoverer George Dansey, Esq. of Devonport, who finds it in small quantity upon rocks on the tidal shore of the river Tamar."
