Type Species
The type species (holotype) of the genus Navicula is Navicula tripunctata (O.F.Müller) Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Lyrella lyra (Ehrenberg) Karayeva.

Karayeva, N.I. (1978). New genus of the family Naviculaceae West. Botanicheskii Zhurnal 63(11): 1593-1596.
