This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Canistrocarpus cervicornis (Kützing) De Paula & De Clerck.

Taxonomic note
According to Silva et al. (1996) the taxon Dictyota pardalis forma pseudohamata Cribb apparently lies within the circumspection of this species but has not yet been formally transferred. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
