Taxonomic notes
Stiger et al. (2003: 8) note that S. carpophyllum has been traditionally included in the section Zygocarpicae but the results of their studies show that it should be positioned at the base of the Malacocarpicae. According to Matteo et al. (2010: 902), S. carpophyllum is the type of section Zygocarpicae and they also include S. turbinarioides in this section. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
