Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Fragilaria is Fragilaria pectinalis (O.F.Müller) Lyngbye.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Staurosirella canariensis (Lange-Bertalot) E.A.Morales, Ector, N.I.Maidana & L.Grana.
