Nomenclatural note
This combination is usually attributed to Schmitz (1889: 441) but his proposal seems to be invalid as only the genus name was mentioned without a description and is thus invlaid (and the basionym was cited as Schizymenia Mertensiana (P. & R.) J. Ag.). The genus name and combination was validated by Schmitz in Rosenvinge (1893: 815). - (24 August 2006) - G.M. Guiry
