Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Pandorina is Pandorina morum (O.F.Müller) Bory.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Yamagishiella unicocca (W.R.Rayburn & R.C.Starr) H.Nozaki.

Type locality: Lee's Camp, Tillamook County, Oregon; (Rayburn & Starr 1974: 43) Type : B.E. Lippert (isolated by B.E.Lippert from a re-wet soil sample); in soil; (Rayburn & Starr 1974: 43) Notes: Type cultures (strain numbers 105-106) deposited in the Culture Collection of Algae at Indiana University.
