Type Information
Holotype locality: see below; (Xia & Abbott 1987: 412) Holotype (cystocarpic): Jack Fisher; 28 June 1983; BISH; Fisher #1087 (Xia & Abbott 1987: 412) Notes: Abbott (1988: 146) notes that the type material was purchased in a market in Malaysia [near Kota Bahru, Kelantan, on the eastern side of the Malay Peninsula] and is said to have come from Pattani. However, she also notes that Jack Fisher (pers. comm. 1987) has found that the exporter of seaweed comes from Pattani, but it is likely that the original material of P. fisheri came from Songkhla where the bulk of the species is found.
