General Environment
This is a marine species.

Description
Rhinomonas (pauca) slightly compressed, 6-10 microns long, 4-6 microns deep, 3.5-5.5 microns wide; in lateral view broadly ovate to elliptic with rounded posterior and rhinote anterior; in ventral view obovate; chromatophore parietal, spathulate, occupying about half the cell periphery, with a narrow posterior extension.

Hill & Wetherbee (1988: 359) note that this was described previously as 'Chroomonas nana Butcher' (1967), a later homonym of Chroomonas nana Schiller (1957) and that also, Butcher did not designate a type for his material, nor is there a permanent collection. - (31 August 2012) - G.M. Guiry
