The type species (holotype) of the genus Tetrasporopsis is Tetrasporopsis fuscescens (A.Braun ex Kützing) Lemmermann.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Dermatochrysis reticulata (K.I.Meyer) Entwisle & R.A.Andersen.
