This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Tuomeya americana (Kützing) Papenfuss.

Nomenclatural note
In 1857, Kützing described the genus Baileya [nom illeg.] with the single species B americana. In 1858, Harvey described the same entity under the binomial Tuomia fluviatilis. Papenfuss (1958: 107) notes that Kützing's specific name americana has priority over fluviatilis< - (02 August 2012) - G.M. Guiry
