Nomenclatural notes
According to INA, "although the epithet is not capitalized in the protologue, it is likely a reference to the generic name Monilia [a fungus], because there is a reference in the description to fungal filaments. If so, it is a noun in apposition and does not decline. Alternatively it could be regarded as an error for "monile", a noun signifying necklace." - (16 August 2015) - M.D. Guiry
