Taxonomic note
The type species of Microglena, M. monadina Ehrenberg, has been referred to Chlamydomonas (Chlorophyceae) by Stein (1878) and though other species placed in Microglena are typically chrysophycean in organization, the genus should perhaps not be assigned to the Chrysophyceae. - (14 July 2006) - G.M.
