The type species (holotype) of the genus Paraphysomonas is Paraphysomonas vestita (A.Stokes) De Saedeleer.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Polylepidomonas vacuolata (H.A.Thomsen) Preisig & D.J.Hibberd.
