The type species (lectotype) of the genus Hormidium is Hormidium velutinum Kützing.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Klebsormidium klebsii (G.M.Smith) P.C.Silva, K.R.Mattox & W.H.Blackwell.
