Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Liagora is Liagora viscida (Forsskål) C.Agardh.

Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Ganonema pinnatum (Harvey) Huisman.

Type Information
Type locality: Sand Key, Florida, USA; (Silva & al. 1996: 126) Lectotype: TCD; Herb. Harvey (Huisman, Abbott & Sherwood 2004: 302, fig. 125) Notes: According to Huisman (2002: 828), Harvey (1853) did not indicate a holotype. Two specimens are included in the type collection, of which only one is labelled 'Liagora pinnata' in Harveys's hand. This specimen is shown in Fig. 125 (Huisman, 2002) and is designated as the lectotype.

Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), with leaflets arranged on each side of a common petiole.
