Type locality: North Sea ("In aquis marinis in loco "North Sea" dicto"); (Hendey 1964: 93) Type: 9 May 1950; surface water; BM; 102173 (Hendey 2983) (Hendey 1964: 93) Notes: 'This species was collected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food research trawler "Sir Lancelot" during cruise No. 8 on 9 May, 1950, from surface gathering at Station 69 at 49°21' N 04°54' E. The organism was originally isolated by Mr. J. Robinson and
subsequently cultured by Dr. Mary Parke'.
