The type species (holotype) of the genus Leibleinia is Leibleinia baculum (Gomont) Hoffmann.

This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Scytonematopsis crustacea (Thuret ex Bornet & Flahault) Kováčik & Komárek.

Adjective (Latin), rocky, rock-dwelling (Stearn 1983).
