Habitat note
On feathers of the cormarant Phalacrocorax desmaresti; "Osservata con il microscopio si presenta formata da una fronda o ficoma incoloro, trasparente, compatto, a contorni ben limitati, risultante da celluloso, la di cui interna sostanza è scavata in loggette ripiene di verde endocromo, minute, angolate, sovente disposte in gruppetti quaternari, collocate in più strati a profondità varia" [Under the microscope it is formed by a frond or phycoma colorless, transparent, compact, with very limited contours, resulting from cellulose, whose internal substance is dug into small loggias filled with endochrome green, minute, angled, often arranged in groups of four, placed in several layers at different depths.] - (14 March 2018) - M.D. Guiry
