Taxonomic note
"Such a new combination was proposed by De Notaris (1842: 293), who recorded the species as frequent along Ligurian coast (Italy). It was later illustrated by Kützing (1866: 13, pl. 35/a-d) who recorded it from the Adriatic Sea. Hauck (1883: 170) listed it among the synonyms of N. punctatum. It should be noted that, De Notaris (op. cit.), based on a specimen sent to him by Montagne with the indication "Delesseria tenerrima", proposed the following new infraspecific combination: A. ocellatum var. tenerrimum "tenerrima" (Greville) Montagne ex De Notaris, recording that taxon from Nice (France) and Genoa (Italy)." (Cormaci & al. 2023: 491). - (06 December 2023) - M.D. Guiry
