Taxonomic note
According to Silva, Basson & Moe (1996: 594) the taxon Dictyota ceylanica Kützing var. rotundata Weber-van Bosse is a possible taxonomic synonym of this species.
Also according to Silva, Basson & Moe (1996: 594), the name Dictyota adnata has been misapplied to this species by various authors; please consult original reference for full details.
Bula-Meyer (1994) and Wynne (1998) consider Dictyota humifusa conspecific with D. pfaffii (q.v.), but Littler & Littler (1997: 73) provide characters for their separation. Wysor & De Clerck (2003) do not agree with Bula-Meyer's (1994: 177-181) conclusion concerning D. humifusa. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
