Nomenclatural note
Heesch & al. (2020: [13] 438) comment "Linnaeus's Systema naturae, ed. 12, Vol. II (Linnaeus 1767a) and his Mantissa plantarum Gen. ed. VI sp. ed. II (Linnaeus 1767b) both appeared in 1767, in the second half of October, according to Stafleu & Cowan (1981: 107). Fucus hirsutus L. appears in both. However, Linnaeus (1767a: 717) cited his Mantissa and the Mantissa page number for Fucus hirsutus, so it is possible %u2013 but by no means certain %u2013 that the first part of the Mantissa appeared before Vol. II of ed. 12 of Systema naturae. Spencer et al. (2009: 249) give Systema naturae as the place of publication, but Silva's authoritative Index Nominum Algarum (http://ucjeps.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/porp_ cgi.pl?566824) gives the Mantissa as the place of publication." - (24 November 2020) - M.D. Guiry
