Type Species
The type species (lectotype) of the genus Callithamnion is Callithamnion corymbosum (Smith) Lyngbye.
Status of Name
This name is currently regarded as a synonym of Aglaothamnion hookeri (Dillwyn) Maggs & Hommersand.
Type Information
Type locality: Sidmouth, Devon, England; (Harvey 1833: 345) Lectotype: Mrs Griffiths; undated; TCD; (Dixon & Price 1981: 134) Notes: Harris (1966) cited as holotype a specimen at TCD, undefined as to the locality and lacking further identifying data. That specimen is of no imporance to the correct typification (Dixon & Price, 1981: 134).
