According to Silva et al., (1996) the name Spatoglossum variabile has been missapplied to this species by Stephenson (1947: 300). - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
"Spatoglossum asperum J. Agardh, from Israelian coast (Lundberg, 1989). However, we agree with Verlaque (1994) in considering it a misidentification." (Cormaci et al. 2012: 68). - (27 August 2015) - M.D. Guiry
