Type locality: Falaise; (Tuji 2007: 49) Lectotype: an illustration of a frustule in Kützing (1844: pl. 6, fig. XV, the 3rd fig. from the left: an individual in slide BM18530 (fig. 9) (epitype) (Tuji 2007: 49, 50 fig. 1) Notes: Falaise : De Brébisson (Herb. Binder); Schleswig: Herb. Binder. Central Amerika? Fossil in schwedischem Bergmehl. (INA).
Type locality: France: Falaise; Germany: Schleswig; Central America; Sweden (INA). Isoepitype (raw material): Kützing packet 333 (Tuji, 2007: 50). According to Blanco (2016: 109, 110), the specimens in two collections cited by Kützing are syntypes and syntypes have priority over illustrations.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective B (Latin), neighbouring, allied to, akin to (Stearn 1983).
