Taxonomic notes
Verbruggen et al. (2007: 244) note that the closely related species C. acuminatum and C. arabicum (Silva, 1959) could be conspecific. - (03 February 2012) - G.M. Guiry

Distributional note
This species was introduced into the Mediterranean (Verlaque et al. 2015: 267) via the Suez Canal, being first found in Israel in 2007. It is currently confined to the Levantine coast. - (06 November 2015) - M.D. Guiry

Habitat note
In the Haifa Bay subtidal zone, occurs most frequently on rocks located in sheltered sites, under low-light conditions, especially below rock rims and on vertical walls (Hoffman et al. 2011). - (21 November 2011) - G.M. Guiry
