Type locality: Atlantic Coast of North America; (Dawson 1954: 304) Type: Parasitic on Polysiphonia fastigiata; (Dawson 1954: 304) Notes: Dawson (1954: 304) Holotype not designated, and whereabouts of the original material, if extant, unknown to the writer. It is not in the Herbarium at Kew, England.
Origin of Species Name
Adjective (Latin), resembling, or growing on or in species of the genus Polysiphonia (Stearn 1983).
