Adjective (Latin), pale, sallow, yellow-green, grey-green (Smith & Lockwood 1933).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Epiphytic on larger perennial algae, such as Fucus spp., Chorda filum, Himanthalia elongata, Mastocarpus stellata and Laminaria hyperborea fronds, in upper- and mid-shore pools and near extreme low water, also growing on permanently submerged floating structures such as marina pontoons, at moderately to extremely wave-exposed sites, and at sites sheltered from wave action but exposed to strong currents, frequently at the edges of tidal rapids (Maggs & Hommersand 1993: 69). Sheltered; large US pools, epiphytic, e.g. on Dumontia contorta, Osmundea hybrida (Maggs et al. 2002: 414).
