According to Silva et al. (1996), the name Liagora cersicolorf has been misapplied to this species by Lamouroux (1816: 237-239), G.Martens (1868: 88-89). John et al. (2004) cite Liagora complanata C. Agardh and L. ramellosa Sond. ex Kütz. as synonyms of this species. - (11 May 2006) - G.M. Guiry
