Type locality: Penco, southeastern corner of Bahía Concepción, VIIIth Region, Chile; (Bird, McLachlan & Oliveira Filho 1986: 2929) Holotype (female): Hector Romo; 1 September 1982; Intertidal; NRCC; 9131 (a) (Bird, McLachlan & Oliveira Filho 1986: 2929) Notes: Isotypes: NRCC, 9131b (male), 9131c (tetrasporangial).
General Environment
This is a marine species.
Habitat
Appears to be largely confined to river mouths or estuaries (Womersley 1996: 25). In bays, estuaries or otherwise sheltered environments; intertidal, on bouldrers and rocky outcrops associated with sand beaches, or subtidal to 12 m depth, attached to small stones, anchored in sand, or free-living (Bird et al. 1986).
