Type locality: "On rocks, Preservation Harbour, Middle Island" [New Zealand]; (Harvey 1855: 244) Holotype [as "Syntype"]: D. Lyall; January 1851; E; E00044471 (Sherwood & Sheath, 2003: 411) Notes: As the description appears to be based on a single gathering, the material at E is automatically the holotype.
