Nomenclatural note
Dasya plana C. Agardh (1828: 118) was invalidly combined by Zanardini (1843: 52; 1847: 33) under the genus Dasyopsis Zanardini (1843: 52) since in the latter paper the genus Dasyopsis was published as a nomen nudum and not validated until 1847. The genus Dasyopsis should be correctly attributed to Montagne (1847: 54), while the combination Dasyopsis plana should be attributed to Falkenberg (1901: 662) (see Furnari et al., 1999). "This new combination, as noted by Furnari et al. (1999: 31) in the note to E. planus, must be credited to Falkenberg (1901: 662) who first published it validly, even if unintentionally, since Falkenberg himself credited it to Zanardini."
