Nomenclatural note
F. commersonii Lamouroux in herb., published as Polycladia commersonii Montagne ex Kützing 1849: 769; F. commersonii Lamouroux mss. Montagne 1847: 378, type of Polycladia but species published under Fucus commersonii Bonnemaison, unknown loc.(see card in Index Nominum Algarum). Montagne (1847: 378) writes: "Nous avons reçu dans le temps notre exemplaire de Bonnemaison à qui Lamouroux l'avait donné avec le nom de Fucus Commersonii, mais sans indication de localité. Les tiges et les rameaux de cette Algue sont hérissés de toutes parts de ramules qui n'ont guère plus d'un millimètre de longueur. Sa couleur est plutôt brune que rougeâtre. Son port rappelle aussi celui du Laurencia obtusa de la Méditerranée." - (07 February 2011) - G.M. Guiry
